All right, i'm a moron.
I left my 1997 kia sephia parked for months with the emergency brake on. I put the car in 1st, and reverse numerous times and gave her. Still didn't free up. My moron friends told me to just cut the cable, but I don't even think that would work, even if I was a moron like they are. Any suggestions on freeing the brake? |

Re: Frozen emergency brakes
i've never seen anything like that, they might just be rusted out, i'd say drive it around the block until you feel they let go...

Judging by the amount of gas that I was giving her, I don't think the car will move at all!!??

Re: Frozen emergency brakes

Nope does not move at all, even with the e-brake off.
I can tell it is switching gears fine, because it moves ever so slightly forward or backward depending on which gear I have it in. The car is manual |

Re: Frozen emergency brakes
man idk what to tell you, the e-brake works just in the rear wheels, you might want to jack up the front wheels and check that they spin freely, have someone press the brake pedal and see if they work, then try if the e-brake will let go putting the car into gear and forcing it a little, but one thing i'm sure, cutting the cable wont anything because is the mechanism that is stuck...
