Opinions on wut to add to my 240SX???
Well i purchased a more then decent 240SX SE Coupe and am in the stages of turninig this state side blah car into a J-spec monster.I just had a S15 Spec SR20DET motor swapped in (best 4G's i've ever spent) last weekend along with a few other goodies.Other then the motor i've also added a Blitz Super Blow-off valve,Tanabe cat-back exhaust system, and K&N fuel injection kit.I was wondering what should be next to add?I was thinking about an front mount intercooler, but not to sure.Let me know what you guys think i should add for best performance.
And for anybody that has a 240 thats thinking about swapping in an SR20DET, let me just say it is well worth the money and time.My S15 Spec SR20 pushes 255HP.I dynoed it after it was installed then again after i installed my 3 other accesories.I'm pushing 270 HP compared to my pathetic 130 HP from the stock motor.NISMO FOREVER!!!! |

ok, heres what you do, give me the title to your car..........and ship it to virginia........it would be awesome then
anyway, get boost controller, ummmm i guess youre good on suspension so far, but if you wanna improve that go with the basics, crap, ill have to wait til i get mine to see what ya can do

oh yea i forgot to mention i got Limited Slip Diff. installed to.
Holy crap! for anybody trying or even thinking about drifting, make sure you have the right suspenion for your car.A few people told me that after i got LSD into my car, i'd be able to go sidewayz whenever i want.This is not the case especialy if you don't have the smoothes road to practice Drifting on.I tried it on this old road thats a bit uneven since noone ever drives there, big mistake.practicaly messed up my suspension.I'm going to this auto mechanic place in LA to get a good suspenion kit installed.Hopefully soon. |

yup, i clipped the SCC article about the KAAZ LSD just for that reason
man, i cant wait to get my new car, gotta stop reading these 240 posts......cant wait to be tellin people that i need LSD too, quirky looks from the car illiterate

yeah, i know of a few roads........and there are courses here in Va that let you do it legally, for a price of course, so im lucky
first thing im doing when i get my 240 is suspension/tire work, but ill be doing tire work quite a bit.....haha......im not too worried about power coz im not building a drag car, an sr swap and a turbo and some accessory goodies will be fine with me......im considering some good audio/interior/show car/impress the ladiez work too, but if it upsets the weight balancing to the point that it disrupts driftability.....screw it... |

The trick with turbo cars is breathing, you gotta let it get all the air it wants, so yea the front mount should be soon if you want real power. On the other side of the turbo, look into a new, down pipe. You said cat back, so look for something from the turbo to the cat, 3" is best. And like NISMODrifts said, hook up that boost controller, to my knowledge the new Blitz SBC-iD is one of the best out there right now. You should wait until after the intercooler though to raise the boost. And again if you want big power, change out the turbo, its kinda small and as you try to press more and more air through it by raising the psi, it will get less and less efficiant ( I dont think I spelled that right). Oh well, good luck man, you got one mean ride! By the way, did you use the stock 240 trans?

No, actually when i bought the motor they were telling me that i would need a better transmission if i wanted to get any power out of the engine at all, so they sold me a 180sx tranny with the motor. Motor works great with the transmission except after shifting into 2nd gear.The rpms drop by about 500 then i have to quick shift or i pass redline which i hate doing.but after 2nd, i'm gone.
And i'm not gonna be switching out to a bigger turbo anytime soon,cuz i just paid enough for wut i got.I've been reading abunch of articles about how people are squeezing 400+HP from there SR20DET motor.I just need to fine tune my engine before i'll be hitting major numbers.but the 270HP i'm pushing now is enough to show up any foo who thinks old 240's can't jump off da line and takem all the way. |
