98 ram 1500 5.2L Won't Start When Wet

I'm usually asking about problems that I constantly have with my Isuzu Rodeo but finally old faithful has let me down. My 98 ram has never missed a beat until last year when the fuel pump died on me. I had it replaced and everything has been great until recently when I noticed that if I have left it out overnight in damp conditions then it just won't start in the morning. I have inspected all cable and they are in good shape. Has anyone had a similar problem or advice as to where I should be looking.

Thanks

Won't start? Does it turn over at least, or just click? What's happening?

Re: Re: 98 ram 1500 5.2L Won't Start When Wet

Sorry for the lack of info. The engine turns over normally and it seems that it floods as well. I say this because the only way to get it going again is to leave it for a while and then start cranking it with the gas accelerator to the floor. When it finally starts to cough a bit I will have to do this a few more times and then it will start very rough until the excess fuel is burned off. After this happens it runs like a charm.????

I noticed someone elese talking about an IAC valve. What is this and could this be a factor.

It shouldn't be the IAC. That's idle air control. You can't even get it to fire up without the gas pedal on the rugs, right? I bet it's your throttle position sensor.

Slantsixness might have something to say about this...

correct me if I am wrong, but, I believe that your TPS is bypassed during cranking and is only powered by the comp after ignition is recognized. You could have a problem as simple as condensation in your distributo cap, or bad ignition wires.
Just an idea

yeah....i was thinkin u might have a crack in ur distributor cap....even the slightest little hairline crack....maybe even one so small u can see it will let moisture in and it will make it sputter and start hard till all the moisture gets evaporated outta there

I think you are not getting spark. Have you checked. Plugs, wires, distributor.
