Clutch Job. Anyone done it?

My clutch just started slipping on friday... It's tough to get some juice outta the car, i actually feel like I'm accelerating in a jeep with oversized tires ;-)... Well, I've never done a clutch, but i have done two transmissions in my Trans Am... I'm picking up a clutch set hopefully tomorrow or wednesday. Could someone tell me a timeframe? I have an '86 z-28 305 H.O. It's a 5 speed tranny, it's the original clutch with 105k on it, so i think adjusting is out of the question. My cousin whom gave me the car told me that me and a buddy could do it in an hour out in the driveway, but i doubt that. on the other hand, I am doing it in the driveway, along with my waterpump(bearings are shot) and my catalytic convertor. Kill all the problems in one shot so i can enjoy blowing people's doors off all summer long before I get rid of the car. Just if you've done a clutch on a 3rd gen., lemme knwo what you went thru please....

my 89 camaro with a 5 speed started slipping at 120k and all i did was put some washers on the fork thing so it grabbed better you might want to try that it took 5 mins to do and i drove it another 30k before i sold it and never had any problems

Re: Clutch Job. Anyone done it?

Well i dono how long that will work, but u will never feel the real power of ur engine like that LOL.
I put a new clutch in my 2 gen like 3 weeks ago. It has so much more power to the wheels its nice. If u have jack stands a jack, input shaft plug and enough tools. Also it helps to have someone that knows what they are doing i did LOL. But it will take u probly 5-8 hours with all the right stuff and no problems. Also measure ur flywheel before u order ur clutch kit trust me it will save u time. I had to spend 3 days geting the right one and not to mention 50 bucks in gas to go get them it sucked LOL
Good Luck
