I've got a coil pack out in my 2000 Maxima...what I need to know is do I need to replace all six, or can I get away with only replacing one? The dealer seems to have this "chain reaction" theory; they say if one goes out and you replace it, another will go out and so on and so forth. Also, I hear it's really easy to replace them - like spark plugs. True?
Thanks. |

Re: Coil Pack Failure '00
I've replaced them one at a time,$60 a pop at autozone. They seem to be o.e.m. and a whole cheaper than buying them from Nissan.

Re: Coil Pack Failure '00 - HELP
Quote:
I bought my 2K Max in 2003 with 46k miles and at 48k miles had to replace coil paks = dealer $65 a piece. But the labor was expensive. Also went ahead and had the plugs changed. Dealer said I still had 12k miles left before needing change. But price now was $60 for plugs now and no additional labor or $130 next time. They used Bosch Platium. Joe |

Re: Coil Pack Failure '00
The dealer used Bosch plugs?! They should know better than that; insist on NGK plugs at all times. The VQ engine was designed with NGK plugs in mind.

Re: Coil Pack Failure '00
replace all 6. theres a guy who sells them on maxima.org for $240 for the set. my car was still under warranty and when i took it to the dealer, they replaced all 6, not just 1. the others will eventually break so just replace them all and save time and hassle later on.
