Well, I sold my p/u yesterday and I am now on the market for a 2" lift kit for the 96 Blazer.
I am looking at the Rough Country and the Superlift. Can anyone make any reccomendations? I want a Kit that will come with shocks and control arms, I really dont want to have to shop all over the place for the "extras". Also since I will be installing the lift in my garage I dont want to have to do any welding. For that I would have to go to my brothers house and that would suck. Thanks in advance for your help. Re: Another "Lift Kit" thread.
Since I couldnt get any response I bought the Rough Country kit from rocky mountain suspension.
Well see how it goes. |

I think the the Superlift kit required welding new shock mounts on the front. I'm not sure though. I think the rough country lift should work well for you let me know how it works out.

Re: Another "Lift Kit" thread.
Thanks.
From talking to the sales people I got the feeling that the Rough Country kit was a little more user friendly, as well it comes with adder leafs and shackles. Ill let you know. |

Re: Another "Lift Kit" thread.
Ok, got the lift done Saturday.
The Rough Country kit comes with new shocks, shackels, torsion bar adjusters, front shock relocation brackets, upper control arms, and all the bushings and bolts to replace any that were removed. Had to weld in the shock relocation brackets. I couldnt get them in level with the originals though. Had to put a custom 15 degree bend in the tie-rods. Notsure why the new superlift torsion bar adjusters came with this kit though. They appear to be exactlt the same as stock. I put em in anyways. Also along those lines, the torsion bar unload tool: You do need this. Or you can use a bearing puller tool that has two fingers, and drill new holes to allow the stud to extend past the fingers. All in all it took two of us 12.5 hours including driving to Murrys to get the proper upper ball joints that Autozone screwed up, and making up a jig fixture to get the proper bend in the tie rods. I would say that I got a little more, parts wise than I was expecting. A little less lift than I was expecting. But great ride quality and a great value for the price. $569.00 delivered. |
