Exhaust question

Hello All, I would like to replace the muffler on my 2000 4.8 with one that sounds as close to stock as possible, but with a gain in performance. Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

i just got a flowmaster 40s series on my '04 4.8. it sounds much better than stock. i highly recommend getting one of those. the performance gain and nice sound will make you forget all about that stock muffler. i got mine installed into my factory exhaust, and everything fit into place nicely.

New muffler

If you would like one that is very close sounding to stock you would be well off with a Gibson. They are similar in size, very free flowing(which increases hp and are very mellow sounding.

If you wanna keep close to a stock sound like ya said, Flowmaster probably ISN'T the way you wanna go. I have the 40 series as well, and it has a very aggressive LOUD tone. You'll probably wanna go with what these guys are sayin at get a Gibson exhaust. Good performance and a mellow tone.

Thanks for the replies ! I'll have to do a search on Gibson to see if they are available in Ontario. I did look up Flowmaster, and they say the 70 series is quieter than the 40. I'm not even sure if there is a Flowmaster distributor up here. If anybody up this way knows of any, I would be grateful for a reply. Thanks again.
Mike
