New Mustang owner, need help.
Hello guys. I just bought a 95 Mustang GT about a week ago. It's a standard tranny and I'm not used to standard.
Anyway, I was doing fine with the car but takeoff was giving me fits on hills and about 2 days ago traffic was full and when the light went green I tried to move the car but kept stalling it. Anyway, people behind me were starting to beep at me and I had it so I let the gas rip and probably reached 3k RPM before I engaged the clutch. Naturally the car screeched and accelerated forward. About 10 mins later I came home and I smelled this burnt rubber like smell. I'm guessing it's a slight burn on the clutch ![]() Anyway, I've been driving it around and so far it seems to be ok, but I know it's hard to tell clutch damage until it's fully worn. My question is: How serious could I have burnt the clutch? Did I just lose months of clutch life? Also could that have damaged the flywheel? God I'm so scared I've damaged the car, as I've only had it for a week, and I don't want to start having to spend time/money repairing dumbass mistakes. Thanks for any info guys!! BTW - I Just ordered an HID kit at 5300K complete with ballasts and everything, I can't wait until I put those on the car

Re: New Mustang owner, need help.
I really don't think you have anything to worry about. What you smelt is burt rubber, from peeling out.
