Question R33 Tail Lights Conversion: Good or Bad Idea?

I went to the car show and I saw an Integra with the Skyline R33 Tail Lights in the back and it just blew me away...they look so tite. I'm not a big fan of conversions (exept JDM hehe) but those lights looked really good. Maybe in the long run someday I might do the conversion, what ya'll think Good or Bad Idea?

Re: R33 Tail Lights Conversion: Good or Bad Idea?

I really wish some of you would take a ride in a fast car like some V8's or boosted V6's to get your tastebuds set on power instead of pointless and costly body mods.. maybe that's just me though. So yeah to answer the question bad idea imo..

great concept ...but bad idea for the unexperienced !! If you have the money, time and know-how then go for the sky ...but otherwise some things need be left alone

Tail light conversions are EXPENSIVE! Buying the authentic lights alone, you're looking at about $600-$700 (for just tail lights!) A lot of body work is required too, so either you do that yourself (takes lots of time) or have a bodyshop do it for you (takes lots of money).

A rough estimate that I'd make is around $2000 - $2500. With that much money, you could throw together a pretty decent turbocharged setup.

Hey I hope this is cool with you TSR, but I have a brand new set of R33 skyline taillights that I was going to do to my car but being that the headlight conversion alone is taking half a lifetime I'm probably gonna cank the taillight conversion so if anyone wants them, I have them. Brand new with the covers. If I do end up selling them I'm trying to make my money back so I'm asking $650 and again they're brand new and in perfect condition.

Re: R33 Tail Lights Conversion: Good or Bad Idea?

do it totally the skyline conversion. espeacially with the black with the Black Widow II 12 piece body kit from Ground Designs 2000. thats new front fenders, hood, and fender flares for the front and back. That with the skyline front end conversion looks awesome but the 4 door sedan skyline tail lights look best.

Re: R33 Tail Lights Conversion: Good or Bad Idea?

i don't see it as a waste of money....everyone says it is b/c itz something they wouldn't do...not everyone that posts here wants a fast car or to be able to beat v8 mustangs and what not.

i think itz up to u TSRyder6 and what ur tryin to do...although i did see the conversion on an older accord and it looked lke crapbut i like lost944s' idea

Re: R33 Tail Lights Conversion: Good or Bad Idea?

body conversions aren't a waste if you're making your car a showcar .

if you're trying to get into shows, do a conversion. but skyline conversions have been done too many times already.

Re: R33 Tail Lights Conversion: Good or Bad Idea?

I think all you fast car lovers need to move to the UK. Where my insurance on a '99 non vtec civic costs £2000 and try fitting turbos etc. Tail light coversions are sweet if done right. eg S2000 lights on '92 hatch with widebody kit and bottom half of hatch blended into lights and body.

I agree. Bad idea....

I personally only like conversions that don't stretch too far from what the car actually is (I.E. JDM conversions, generation/year conversions, model conversions)

You have to look at it this way...The tail lights aren't what makes a Skyline so awesome, and it won't make your car anywhere closer to one either.
