I'm not positive, but i think in 88 and 89 they made the firebird in a "pro-am" model to match the maro's iroc model....not positive...not an expert on pro-ams...but i think thass wut it is.

i know the 4th gen pro am III was a firebird with a ram air hood and dual exhaust, probably better gears. and they had a special body kit that looked pretty cool. but they were the v6

Re: 89 firebird pro-am?

Well, it has a 305 tpi, and its very quick, has ground effects and some custom pipes, but other than that I am not sure what Pro-am means. I tried researching it on the net and could not find anything.

Re: 89 firebird pro-am?

the 4th gen was a limited production number car, is thier a number plate anywhere on the dash or inside the hood. if so you could have a car worth some money on your hands

Re: 89 firebird pro-am?

Hey I just now joined and thought Id write you to tell you you have a VERY special and valuable car. A pro/am is a car that was a looks package basically between the years of 87-89. I have an 88. It came with ground effects (which youre lucky if you still have, mine doesnt), woodgrain interior, dual exhaust, a dash plaque somewhere which I cant find, and a fake cowl induction hood. There were only about 1500 made. A place in TN called Choo Choo Customs made them for different dealerships to promote the car. The place is closed now so youre pretty much screwed if youre missing the ground effects or any of that (like me lol) .Later in the early 90s a few of the pro/am 3 were made. Its not a formula though, just a pro/am. There were over 14000 formulas made, and only a little over 1500 pro/ams so were pretty lucky : )
The reason I know is because I know someone who has a black one..who only lives 18 miles away so I was a lucky gal in that case, but ya I looked forever too. Anyway treat her good. You have a valuable car!

Re: Re: 89 firebird pro-am?

Hey,
I just found this site and was trying to post a message and accidentally(don't know what I did wrong) copied 88ProAmgirls' message about her 88 pro-am. Anyway, I am the original owner of an 88 pro-am. It is in excellent condition, has all of the ground effects, decals, new stainless steel dual exhausts (which I was able to get from the people who took over Chattanooga Custom Inc.) 5.0 liter V8 TBI Fuel injection engine, wood grain center console and guage cluster, red interior, fake cowl induction hood, and basically all of the original custom features. There were some postings a bout a number plate on the dash or inside the hood. I don't see anything on the dash and don't know where to look inside the hood and would appreciate any information regarding that number plate. Since I am the original owner, I may be able to answer other questions about the car to those of you who have purchased a used one.

Re: 89 firebird pro-am?

Way to bring this one from the dead, but I am making a website for pro/ams Its http://www.krusaders.20m.com
It the only website I have that I can use for pro/ams. I am kind of working on mine, putting some kill switches and what not, so I will post my pics as soon as I can, however if you want your ride showcased on my website just send me some pics. I will be glad to enlighten people about the pro/am since most of them do not know what it is.
Thanks, and good luck.
