HELP! Head Gaskets

I just purchased a 92 Camaro RS that needs head gaskets. I got halfway into tearing the heads off and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get all the exhaust bolts off on the passenger side (the back ones in particular). Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much.

all that egr and ac crap has to come out, and the passangers rear ones you have to either use a wrench, or a short socket to get to, if u cant do that, out with the a/c and all of his friends

yup, from the bottom, with a ratchet, or socket, its definatly tough, but you do have to do it from the bottom, i did mine on the lift at work, but i suppose with ramps and a creeper, you could do the same thing. thats the only way i got em off.

I agree with Vetteman but I`d go it one better. I bought the chevy service manual. I`m so tired of the dealership taking advantage of a good thing. The manual I bought comes from a dealership who is tossing dumpsters full of the old manuals and now charging flat rate for all drivability issues on cars like my 89-Z. Knoledge is power! (Horsepower too!) Why let some mechanic at the dealer who doesent have any idea what hes looking at let alone supposed to be able to FIX it! Whew scarry! LOL This is the book they would have to use to guess it fixed, But, Why not fix it right the first time and maybe do some preventitave maintenance while youre at it. Im a mechanic, a good one mostly because i dont overlook the obvious ie: if it dont start is there fuel? you would be suprised...but to know where connector cavity locations are for specific curcuits etc.. I personaly find the original manuals extremely more informative then the haynes or chiltons. After doing this for a while this is the most valuable advise i could give to any wrenchin man!

don't even mess with anything less than the factory manuals, they're high but they work. why don't you take the manifold loose from the pipes and pull it with the head? is there enough room for that? just an idea

Re: HELP! Head Gaskets

You can't get to the bottom row of headbolts with the manifold on.

Re: HELP! Head Gaskets

i thought we were talking about the MANIFOLD bolts???? those you get to from the bottom, but yeah, head bolts from the top after you get the manifolds off.
