Check gages light

I just replaced the alternator on my 93 Grand Voyager and all of a sudden the check gages light is on all the time. I have been told that I may have to start the car a number of times before the light goes out. Well, I have started the car at least 100 times and the light is still on. All my gages are working and this light is still on! Where do I go from here? I even disconnected the battery a couple of times and that didn't help. Is there a way to reset the computer without having to go to a garage and pay a lot of money for something I may able to fix myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Check gages light

You need to get the computer codes. To do so, turn ignition switch three times (with out starting the car) and leave switch on. The computer enters diagnostic mode. Watch the "check engine light". Each code is two digits. Count the number of flashs for each digit, which is followed by a pause between digits. The final code will be 55 (end of list). Once you have the fault codes, do a internet search on "Chysler Computer codes" to find a site that lists what they mean. To reset the computer codes, turning the ignition switch on-off 50 times will reset the codes.

My check gauges light is on steady also though not because I did anything. Upon ignition the other warning lights flash like normal, so there is power to the gauge unit. None of the 3 gauges are working at all. I replaced the gauge unit but the replacement does the exact same thing. I tried the ignition sequence suggested (3 on/offs) and it doesn't seem to work for my 93 gr voy 3.0 le, though it did for my brother's 95 so I know I'm doing it right. I'm stumped on what to try next. Any ideas?
