Re: Breater FIlters??? WTF?

I was just wondering, what purpose does that little round plastic piece coming out from the head serve? The piece that the air intake connects to, located next to the opening for the top of the trottlebody. I've seen some APC filters for this and wondered what, if any, difference this makes?? Thanks.

its crankcase ventilation, filters the air coming it, air going out goes though the PCV valve.

Yeah, the PCV system works by sucking air in through that hole, down through the head and crank case, out the rear of the block through an oil seperator, then through the PCV Valve and into the intake manifold where crank case vapors are drawn into the engine to be burned.

So basically, you need a filter on it, either the same filter the engine uses, or a different one.

Re: Re: Breater FIlters??? WTF?

I had a breather filter but felt like it was stupid having hot engine air going directly into the head. Long story short, when I finally got my decent CAI that goes to the bumper I decided to just do it the way suggested with the hose trimmed to the correct size from intake pipe to breather location. I've often wondered if oil from the head gets out though?? Anyway, I still keep the little breather filter in my car. I've seen breather filters on the head and on the intake piping instead of capping it off. WTF?

Hot air going into the head is no big deal, it is already hot.
