I've got a 2000 Sierra SLT with 5.3 w/62,000 miles. The power steering pump is squealing when turning the wheel at low engine rpm. Changed the belt, didn't fix it. Drained the power steering pump and re-filled with fresh fluid. The new fluid fixed it for about 3 weeks and now it is squealing again. Not real loud, but enough to bug the #$@% out of me!!
Anyone got any suggestions???? thanks from the newbie!!! |

I had a similiar problem with mine. You might need to get a new pump, because mine was shot. Be careful if you replace the pump though because I kept blowing o-rings in the pressure fitting. What type of driving do you do with your truck?

I drive about 60 miles round trip to work and back. No extreme driving here......
What would cause the squealing in the pump? Could the rack & pinion be making the squealing noise??? thanks |
