99 Yukon, 4X4, 4-Door
I just switched out my 245/75/16 tires on stock rims for new 285/75/16 tires on after market rims. My brakes are squeaking quite a bit. Is this common w/ new rubber? I bought the Tires and rims at Big O Tires. Thanks. |

Re: Squeaking brakes after new tires put on?!
If this is a new problem, I'd definitely recommend having it checked. How many miles have you driven on the new wheels & tires? I assume you re-torqued the lug nuts after ~25-30 miles? Are the new wheels significantly heavier than stock? Obviously the tires weigh a bit more, and the combination may be putting an additional burden on your brakes?
Speaking of the brakes - how many miles since the last pad/shoe replacement? Take care, Jerry

Squeaking brakes normally aren't caused by the friction between the pad and the rotor, its caused by vibrations in metal parts like the caliper pressing against the back of the pad, the caliper pins, etc. Lubricate all the back of the pads, the pins calipers, etc, with brake parts lube from autozone. I did this on my explorer and it hasn't squeaked for 2 years.
