Say does the forum know that the Type S manual will out weight the regular RSX manual by as much as 73 lbs?
I wonder why there is such a difference? Does anyone? The type S does hold .5 more quarts of oil and the piston size is larger, but is that enough to change the weight by 73 lbs?

There is a lot more difference between RSX Type S and base model than the ones you mention.

I'm sure there is more of a difference. I got this info from an RSX brochure. It was all that was mentioned. I this is one of the reasons I started the topic. To see if anyone on AF knew what the other differences were.
I'm not really confused or anything like that, and I know it probably doesn't matter, but 73 lbs seems like a lot and you do get 40 extra HP with the Type S. So again, what does the Forum think makes the Type S so much heavier? Could it be Alien tech?:alien:

Engine alone probaly have numerous changes.
I can think of many reinforced engine parts due to higher redline. Leather is optional on base model. Therefore it's not included in the curb weight. That adds quite a lot of lbs. Also the sound system is different. Type S has subwoofer in the trunk. It also has 6 disk cd changer in the dash. Transmission is different Type S is 6 speed vs 5 speed on base model. Type S wheels are powdercoated. |

Every little thing adds up. However the big killer are the leather seats and sound system.

I got it.
And you get 40 HP and 1 extra Torque. I seem to not be able to let this go. Leather seat a 6 speed tranny and bigger pistons can add up to 73 lbs huh? Oh yeah the sub too! Well it makes for a good package but that stereo is weak. I have an 8" sub in my GS 300. It sounds alot more powerful. It not in the trunk though. See the new Bomex body kit yet?

All I can say is Leather seats are killer. A whole set could end up 40 lbs more than cloth. Yes the sound system is weak on bass. I notice that as well but it still adds weight. |
