88 Cold Air Intake

I have a 88 3.8L bird and I decided to put a cold air intake in it. I got the instructions from http://www.tccoa.com/articles/intake/ram.html On that site it said to disconect the computer for a few hours. Can anyone tell me how I do that, where the computer is, of if it really is necessary? Thanks in advnace

Now that I read over the directions again this is sort of confusing.... does anyone know of a web site that has better instructions along with the answer to my first question? Thanks.
