Despirately Thinking of H22a Swap!

Ok this has been bugging me for weeks now. I have a new B16a swap that was put into my 89 Crx Si right before I bought it. It has only had 3k miles put on it from when its been imported. I dont know, I just have this itch for a H22a swap in my crx. I saw 2point2's H22a swap @ honda-tech.com and it looks nice as hell. Even better was when I saw CharleyCRX's H22a swap, insprired by 2point2, but he even turbo'ed it. Thats the perfect setup, and yes he got it to fit. So I need a job as school is ending now. I have no idea about the mounts, I have to make my custom mounts, from research. This is going to be a hard and long project, but in the end would be worth it. Someone I know from crxtech.com , his brother had a Crx with an H22a and he said he did 12.8 stock but only had Type S cams in it. Crazy! Imagine that turboed? So when I pull out my B16, I could sell that off, not sure about the price though. I dont know where i'm going to buy the motor, passwordjdm.com probably. Any input or suggestions? I'm looking up more and more every day, researching and have PLENTY of bookmarked sites .

Don't turbo the h22 if you put it in. My buddy turbo'd his 94 4dr h22 and he regrets not just doing all motor. Especially since you have such a light ass car, I'd just go with some high comp pistons and cams; but that's just my opinion.

yeah i read the whole thread oh HT about 2point2's swap....he might still have the cardboard measures of hte mounts he made, you could ask him.

Why not turbo? even with a minor boost application (like 8-10 psi) hed be making close to 300hp. Although that might not be that much in a 3000 lb prelude, in a crx, that mug would be in 11's w/o problem (except some nice traction problems ha ha)

Re: Despirately Thinking of H22a Swap!

Ahh really? Thats good then, that makes my life feel alot better, honestly. So this swap isnt about the money, its about the time and patience, and I have TOO much of that already. Im still researching, I want to turbo the H22a, dont care about handling, as the money for a B18 isnt worth it.

Re: Despirately Thinking of H22a Swap!

yeah surprisingly the h22 isnt too expensive. I think i saw it for like $2,800 for the whole swap (engine, tranny, ecu, wiring harness)

Re: Despirately Thinking of H22a Swap!

Hydraulic transmission
LSD
Complete Swap
Includes motor, tranny, clutch/flywheel, axles, ecu, shift linkage, all attached components, starter, alternator, sensor, t.body, JDM wire loom, distributor
Standard startup warranty applies
Blue valve cover (pictured) not included. Comes with a black cover.

Thats $2500 or $2200 without the LSD. Thats from password JDM, so the engine, mounts, hmmm. Man do I want this bad.

Re: Despirately Thinking of H22a Swap!

I dont know how much I could get for my current B16a though. Someone I know at school wants a B16 I heard, well from the last I talked to him he wanted a ZC, but then I guess he heard I have a B16 so he wants one too. I might talk to him and see if he can get some $$ so I can use some of that to go towards my swap.

Re: Despirately Thinking of H22a Swap!

H22 is going to be a lot of work, but would be worth it if you get it done.

I know Paul (2point2) has been working on that swap for a long time man and there's more to come .. Just be sure you really know what you're doing. 2point2's swap is good because he spent a lot of time and prepwork to do it wasn't just a throw in in a week thing.

Do it, it would be hella fast but make sure you're good first.

if you are gonna go with the H22 i wouldn't stop there. Go for the whole deal if you're gonna do that, including (especially) turbo. when your putting your engine in make sure u try and leave yourself some room for your turbo and such, it will help out in the long run...or just try and do the entire thing at one time.
