Engine interchange..

Hi..I just picked up a 91 Firefly..it is a 1991..I want to root around and start gatherring a few spare parts for it..anyone know offhand which engines will fit this?..it has the 1.0/3 cyl...Thanks very much..Arnold..

Metro 1.0, Sprint 1.0 turbo, Metro/swift 1.3SOHC, Metro/swift 1.3 SOHC 16v, and the Swift GTi 1.3 DOHC 16v

Thanks! and for your FAST! reply..would those interchanges cover only 1991..or other years?..example..would..let's say an 88..0r 90..0r..whatever they made them to?..bolt in too? Thanks again!..Arnold..

89 and newer seem to work best together, 88 and older were carbed and had different engine mounts.

I would stick with 89-91. Any other years and you'll run into wiring harness in-compatability issues. Also, if you switch from a 3cyl to a 4cyl engine, you'll have to swap out the gauge cluster and fuel pump too.
