Adding refrigerant for the AC

Hello again. I need to add refrigerant to my 98 Astro Van. Any tips I should know about ? I am not mechanically inclined at all, so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

not being an ass here, but thats not something you should attempt yourself. it can be very dangerous if you dont know what your doing, and your own admission at not being mechanically inclined futher enhances that danger.

however maybe we can diagnose whats going on, so you have an idea what really needs to be done to have it fixed.

first i question your thoughts that its low. has it been low before and recharged?

or is it not cooling at all? very little? is the compressor itself cycling?

there are pressure switches that prevent compressor cycling if the proper pressure isnt read. however these switches themselves can fail, causing the system not to operate.
