I think I'm screwed

I just changed my oil and now im smoking real bad. The person I bought it from said he used syn. oil, and that is what I used. It is white smoke so i know im burning oil. Have anyone had it problem? Is there a quick fix for this are do I have to tear the engine apart. Any bit of info will help.

It just started smoking after the oil change? Unless you changed the type of oil, I don't know why it would just start blowing smoke. Did you overfill perhaps or do something else as well?

Keep an eye on the level for a bit. If it only smokes a bit when you start, you'll be ok. If its burning all the time, then there could be a variety of things causing it and all of them (that I know of) are bad.

First off, burning oil has a bluish tint from it, also where is the smoke coming from, engine, exhaust? If you didn't overfill it, did you perhaps spill some in the engine bay while filling it? I put 4 qts in mine when changing the oil. Let us know.

Re: I think I'm screwed

Ash_94Sl posted this in another thread:
"At 127K miles I'd say the valve guides are well worn. These cars have a nasty reputation of buring oil because of valve guides blowing oil into the cylinders. I had mine rebuilt and it cost about 800 bucks.

To check if the guides are worn have a buddy drive behind you when you test drive the car. You will see blue smoke come out of the tail pipe when the engine is under load (you are accelerating). Mine never smoked when I simply reved the engine. BTW you will fail emissions if you have this valve guide issue."

So if you are high mileage this may be the case, but smoke can really be caused by alot of things. Personally, I would try and track down the smoke. Is it just coming out of your tailpipe? Does it have a bluish tint? And have a friend drive behind you and see if you get the same smoke while accelerating.

Re: I think I'm screwed

I took my car in and they said they a seal around my turbo has blown. Has anyone ever bored and ported their factory turbo and converted them in to the 15 G. I found a kit that does that I just need to find someone to bore and port my housing. How much do you think that will cost??
