Im thinking about buying a bike, I have physical problems... PLS HELP

Alright like I said, I want to get into biking. I want a street bike, not too fast, but fast enought to own the snobby people in honda's and integras around me. I dont really want to spend alot of money on a bike because I do have some physical conditions that may make me not want the bike after a little riding. Here is my problems...

I am 17 years old, still growing mind you, and am already 6 foot 6 and weigh 270 lbs and not all muscle, I dont deny it im chunky but not an obese man like many people say when I say my weight. Will my height or weight make it hard to find a bike that fits? I know most tall people drive trucks, but I like sportscars and bikes. I tried fitting into a civic delsol once, it wasnt pretty, I ll leave it at that.

Another question. Is a bike better on gas than my talon? What would I be looking at on insurance payments? Are bikes hard to maintain? Im not nearly a mechanic but I do know some simple stuff. I cant change my own oil unless supervised. That should show how much I know.

Is my dream of being a "biker" completely a dream or can it come true? Pls respond to this topic or send me an IM at psykomantis00 on AIM.

Also, I work at an amusement park. Would this be a problem? I dont want my bike to be stolen so how good is security on a street bike?

What would be a good beginner bike, and a used price on one that fits the requirements of my height.

Although your size is kinda big I wouldnt start on anything bigger than a 600 just because of the power. It will be slightly small for you but thats not such a bad thing. You cant learn at a dealership. Some dealerships dont even allow test rides and especially if you dont have your license. If you want to learn how to ride I would find a good friend or rent a dirtbike for a day and then take the MSF.

Is driving a dirt bike like driving a street bike? I think the only problem I might have is with leaning and turning without falling, lol. I think shifting might be difficult, but I can listen to the engine just like in my car and tell when to shift, but how does the whole shifting process go?

I really appreciate you guys in helping me. Thanks alot.

Where are you at in Ohio? If you're near the PA border, I might be able to help you.

At your height, you're probably going to need the 600 just for the sheer size, that it's still "that much" larger than the smaller cc bikes. My dad is 6'4" and even on my 600 bike (which is pretty upright) he simply dwarfs it.

All I can offer you is to go to dealerships and ask to see and sit on 600cc bikes to see if you fit. They may be able to offer ideas/options that you hadn't thought of in the first place.

It is said that it is better to start off riding dirtbikes then go into crotch rockets and other motorcycles. That way you have the basic riding skills down and then you can jump right into the riding. but is you dont have the money just jump into the rockets.
