engine probs

ok my car idles fine, but when i start goin and start hittin the gas it seems like my car isnt getting enough gas. the rpms just shoot up and i barely accelerate. there also seems to be a wierd electronic or plastic smell comin from the area near the alternator and the resevoirs in that area. help plz

chk ur clutch and or flywheel. also chk ur tranny. there r some ideas for u to work wit
