The new Malibu is UGLY!!!!

I don't know what the chevy designers were thinking when the designed the new Malibu. I love some of the unique features it has(like the rolling back seats and the remote starting) but it just looks ugly. What do u ppl think??

Re: The new Malibu is UGLY!!!!

I agree with you dipankar. GM hyped up the arrival of a brand new Malibu and this is all we get? Don't get me wrong, I think it's okay looking--- just okay. The new Chevy Cobalt is a much better looking car although it is smaller. Many critics said the previous generation Malibu was too bland. Well this one isn't very exciting either. I also like the features the new Mali comes with, but I don't think I would buy one.

The new features are good and all, but i agree...it's ugly overall. The previous gen bland? Hell no...it's way better than the new one. I should know. I have a 2001 and I think it looks good

Overall, compared with my '98 LS (bought new), the new one is ugly. But, the new one, in certain variations, is tugging on my idiotic heartstrings. The sedan is stunning in silver. The Maxx is stunning in silver and dark blue. The silvery green color is hot on both.

Pretty much any other color and yeah, GM laid a turd.

That front end is pretty bad. Sales agree with us. Rebates up to $2500 at the moment. "Summerdrive" on the way soon. If the rebates on it hit $4,000, uh oh, the "blue light special" light comes on, and I'm suspect......

With maybe a couple of cosmetic modifications the old model would look nice, but there is nothing special about the stock ones though.

I'm not saying the previous gen is all that flashy, but it looks way better than the new ones

Don't get me wrong, the "old one" was nothing special in the looks dept. Actually, under duress, is why I bought one. A certain Chevy dealer owner might be the reason, and why I'm even considering another.

The "new one" is pretty bad in the styling area. Perfect grannie-mobile. The Maxx, ugh, well, we'll see....

And the Pontiac G6, while IT has a nice snout, unlike the Bu, that's all you can say for that, ain't no giant styling leap forward either. Agree? Disagree?

Re: The new Malibu is UGLY!!!!

Someone's got to step up... guess it will have to be me!

We researched our Maxx for 3 months via the internet before we bought and in the course of this time, never stepped foot on a dealership lot. All the pictures and the chevy brochure left us with a neutral feeling about it's looks.

When we saw it in person it looked so much nicer. Although we purchased one in the Driftwood metalic color, the Navy Blue, Black and Red were very impressive looking.

no, offense but the intterior is such a let down compared to the first generation. The new one looks like a elantra inside. For the money, and features i still wouldn't buy because for 25g i want something to look it for the price, the new bu should start at 16 for materials it uses on the new car.

To me the newer, more streamlined cars look so similar - like they've been cast in someone's hottub!

Capricex,
I don't know who makes the Elantra you looked at but it shares no resemblance to the Maxx interior... by any stretch of the imagination. We paid 18,600 for our Maxx LT. Everything but the DVD, ONSTAR, XM Satellite Radio and Sun Roof. Perhaps you should go look at one in person.
BTW, what is the first generation Malibu?

well

The last generation is from 97-03, 97-99 was a great year cuz it had the logos ,and the ls has hot alloys, ( i own a 99 ls) and the interior design, and dash board design is great, alot of thought has been put into the design. Now i don't mean to offend you, personally , but the new malibu, has such a plain jane stlyed dash board that it is back tracking instead of moving forward along with the car's even boxer rear end. The new malibu's interior is so plain it looks like it should be in an ion. To me personaly, i would never buy a new malibu, it is not worth it's price, i would buy the new pointiac g6, before it, and even a new mazda 3.

Re: The new Malibu is UGLY!!!!

No offense taken.
I was really interested in the Mazda 6 wagon (to me thats a good looking sport wagon) but the Japanese can get what they want for them because of their reputation for quality. The Maxx had all the right stuff we were looking for to replace our S-10 including the ability to haul cargo for our printing business, seat 4 adults in real comfort and absolutely allow my 5' wife to drive a vehicle without the steering wheel being in her chest. (adjustable pedals!) Guess the automatic AC, leather, remote start, horsepower, torque, quiet ride, good fuel economy, side certain airbags, 4 wheel disc antilock brakes and traction control will have to help us cope with it's plain design while we haul around our 100" printers with the hatch closed.
Poor us... what was Chevy thinking?
