Unhappy fuel filter

just bought a '99 sunfire gt, i found that it does not start well especially when the engine is hot and has been running. i just changed the fuel filter and can't get the car started, it turns over but won't start. Is there any way to prime the fuel after changing the filter???

Re: fuel filter

no, if fuel pump is working car should start and stummble after aprox 30 sec and clear up as air is pushed out, if you tried starting the car several times and it did not start make sure fuel filter is installed properly, no leaks flow in correct direction.

Fuel Filter Prime

At work when we change out any fuel filters what we do to prime them is turn the ignition to the on position with out starting it and let it sit for about 10-20 seconds. Most of the time it should start right up with no problem. It might heisitate but it should fire right up. If it doesn't then there is a problem with the way the fuel filter is conntected of a fuel line has broken away from the tank. Hope that helps.
