Oldsmobile 442
OK, once again, I am not a huge domestics fan, I admire them, but don't know that much about them. However, rather than deal with the same stuff as my last post in the street racing forum, I thought I would just post this here. On my way to work this morning, an orange muscle car was behind me. When the road opens up into a bypass and turned into a highway, I took it up to 6th gear, shifting low, as my fuel light was just about to come on. (I'm broke). So this guy nails the gas behind me and just soars right by. It looked like an oldsmobile and said 442 on the side. If I am wrong about the make, feel free to correct. Anyways, I thought to myself that I couldn't pass this up, so I double clutched, dropped it to 3rd and took off after him as he passed me. Well this guy was already at WOT and was leaving me behind. Once I got the turbos spooling I started to catch up slowly. I took 3rd to about 6000rpms, then shifted to 4th and about that time I narrowed the gap down to 2 car lengths or so. But man that was hard, the guy was flying, and I still don't know if he let off a bit because of upcoming traffic, or if I really caught him. Either way, I pull in behind him and we go around 2 cars, then are at it again cruising at over 100. Then he whipped into the right lane and slowed down for an exit. He did it so fast I thought he had seen a cop or something. Well I caught the next right for my exit, but damn if that wasn't a good time even without any gas. That 442 was definantly giving me a good run from a roll. It made my day, so I thought I'd share.

I'm not familiar with the model either, but it did sound like a lot of fun

Re: Oldsmobile 442
Yeah, I hear those Oldsmobiles are pretty strong. When I was looking for my 3KGT, this dealer was actually trying to sell me an Oldsmobile because he didn't have what I was looking for. ;o/
