Hot Weather Throttle blues........
The last few days have been really hot and my throttle is sticking. I can be stopped at a stop light and the rpms are much higher than idle. I give it a good revving and it comes back down to normal. Also, it's messing up my shifting because the rpms are higher at times when shifting. It's only happens when it's soaking hot so what are some solutions from you guys? It's driving me fucking mad!

Re: Hot Weather Throttle blues........
That's interesting you say no WD-40 because that's what my father uses all the time. I never notcied any of the this till after he used it. I can't believe that stuff would something like that. Will the oil still work over the residue of the WD-40?

Re: Hot Weather Throttle blues........
I know this thread is getting old but I've narrowed down the problem. I've oiled down the throttle linkage, cable and throttle pedal but it seemed to work little. last week when it got stuck again, I put my foot under and the pedal and lifted it towards me and it stopped. What could be causing this? Could it be the throttle springs? When it get stucks and with a really easy tug (I mean easy) on the cable, it pulls it free. I really would like some help.
Also, how tight should the cable be on the throttle?

Re: Hot Weather Throttle blues........
kinked cable probably. I'd say shell out the cash and just get a new throttle cable.

Re: Hot Weather Throttle blues........
How would someone go about taking out the cable?

Re: Hot Weather Throttle blues........
I'd put a spring on the gas pedel to make it come back up. Would be a simple solution. Not sure how you take the cable out, I'm sure its self explainatory if you look at it long enough. Try replacing the spring on the throttle body also.

Re: Hot Weather Throttle blues........
WD-40 isn't a degreaser and it works fine.
What a wank. |

Re: Hot Weather Throttle blues........
If you are planning to do the MPFI swap, you'll most likely be replacing the throttle body and cable anyway. If I push my pedal all the way to the floor, it sticks there until I pull it back up with my foot underneath the pedal. I obviously have some issues...it's great for the track tho - lol - if I ever went.
