1970 Hornet
need help with my '70 Hornet. was wondering if anyone had ever seen a car like this "pimped" out by todays standards. would like to put rims and a stereo system in with an amp and subs. want to make this car every day drivable, and able to be driven long distances back and forth to my school. need to put auto choke on it and get a new(or fix the old) carborator(sp?) it dries out now and you have to take some gas and poor it into the carb. (i think thats the right part, not very car savvy here) after that it usually starts, but right now it is sitting in my garage... anyone know of anything else that i could do to fix it up a little bit??

Think about hodrodding this car, depending on the motor, you could really make this thing fly.
Edelbrock carries intake manifolds and matching carbuerators for the AMC 304 and 360.

i believe the motor is a big, bad 199. i just want to make it so that i can drive it every day and not have to worry about it starting, or have to worry about driving it long distance. i drove it about 40 miles on a two lane high way a few years ago and it about shook me out the window! i'd like it to be pretty cool with the subs and amp and wheels...

I'd forgotten all about the Hornet. My folks had on when I was a kid back in the early 70s. Its been so long since I've seen one...

What's the body style? The 2 door hatch backs looked great, with very similar proportions to a 5 litre Mustang. However, I wouldn't bother if its a 4 door or wagon.

two door hatch back or coupe. I like the '70 hornet myself. I think you should leave it in it's original style, and put those classic 5 spoke rims on it, like on the one that was featured in James Bond's Man With The Golden Car. THe style does kick ass with those rims.

omg, i would never consider anything like that!! all im talkin about is some rims, a stereo system, maybe actually 'lowering' it a bit, no ground effects kit. keep all the lights the same, no wing on the back either, that looks disgusting

Hey,
I've got a 1972 AMC hornet 4 door. 17" x 6" 5 spoke Torque Thrust wheels make it look lower even at stock ride hight, they really fill out the wheel well. makes the car look muscle, and euro at the same time. As for system make sure you drive around with no muffler to se what rattles around inside. all 30 year old cars rattle a litle bit, fix the rattles, re-do the exaust, and install a sound sustem.
