Unhappy 3800 does not start

I own a 92 Buick Regal with a 3800. I drove it one day and the next day it would not start. I ohmed the injectors and they tested between 14.1 and 14.4 ohms. Fuel pressure checks in at 44 p.s.i. and it is achieved within 2 seconds. I believe the crank trigger to be o.k. because it has spark and it will start and run when I give it a little shot of carb cleaner. I replaced the ingnition module under the coils to no effect. I have not replaced the cam sensor because, from what I understand, it should run if that is defective (Safe Mode).
I have over 12 volts feeding the injectors and I also checked the harness for a short (to ground) but can't seem to pinpoint what is wrong. I have noticed that the fuel pump does not operate until I begin to crank over the engine. I do not believe this to be normal. Should it not begin to operate as soon as the key is turned on? Also, if I turn the ignition off, it will continue to run for another 5 seconds. I thought the fuel pump should only run long enough to achieve operating pressure. I can also here the fuel regulator allowing fuel to by-pass (hissing sound) because the pump is remaining on too long before shutting off even though full pressure is achieved as stated above. Could the computer be the culprit? The service engine light has not come on. I will try to retrieve codes but I have a feeling there wont be any. I have talked to 3 different mechanics and they are baffled. I really don't feel like towing it 40 miles to the nearest reputable G.M. dealer. Please, can anyone help?

Re: 3800 does not start

is the service engine soon light on?if it is try to check it and see if code 41 comes up.Thats a cam sensor code.it doesnt necessarly mean you have a bad cam sensor, theres a magnet behind the timing cover that trigers the sensor if that magnet fell of there will be no signal to your injectors.you might want to check that out

Sounds like a regulator problem. Does the pressure drop when you shut off the key? It should hold pressure for hours. If it doesn't, then your regulator is bad. Have you changed the fuel filter?

It Is Alive

Got the darn thing running. The wiring, coming from the electrical center on the passenger side inner fender, had salt and dirt and crap all over it (courtesy of MN-DOT), but they were not wet. I could activate my test light by just touching the insulation! Talk about a voltage leak! Unwrapped and untwisted harness so as to clean each wire then soaked the hell out of it with LPS. Also had to replace one wire (soldered and heatshrinked) as it had literally corroded from the inside out. Cleaned up some corrosion on some terminals and she fired right up. Everything works like it should.

I have now been driving it for a couple of days. I decided to check for engine codes, not because the SES light has come on, but to see if there might be other problems. I recieved two codes, 23 and 66. They were preceeded and followed by the 3 x 12 codes (normal). Can someone tell me what they mean?

Thanx
