more probs for my '95 GT

ok guys back again with lots of problems this time. First im getting detonation, i know i am, i hear like a "beans shaking around in a tin can" sound, second, when im playing my music loud, and then floor it, the music almost cuts completely and i can barely hear it, ALSO when i floor it, my battery light in my gauges comes on, and also, sometimes my ABS dash light comes on when i KNOW that my ABS hasnt kicked in, i have no clue what to do and im really worried about the detonation because i dont want to be causing any major damage to my car. Ever since this has been happening, ive tried to take it really easy on my car. any advice will help, thanks guys.

If it sounds that bad the first thing I would do is stop driving it! Sounds like the charging system is malfunctioning which could be computer problems or an actual bad part such as a alternator/generator. If your radio is not getting the electrical juice to keep it going you know your spark plugs are only getting a fraction of what they need. I think you are experiencing lack of spark in the chamber to ignite all the fuel. That will cause the engine to run poor, misfire, etc. I doubt it's true detonation. I would get it to a shop to run a diagnostic test through the computer.

If its spark knock try upgrading or down grading your fuel depending on what octane you are currently running. You may also want to check your timing. I know my truck spark knocked when I switched back to 87 from 89, but that was because I had advanced the timing. So I set it back and everything is fine.

I agree with brentmcq. It definately sound like your having some sort of charging problem. Could be bad ground I suppose but I think I would remove your alternator and have it checked.

Re: more probs for my '95 GT

No need to remove it. Turn the car on, and at an idle take a screw driver and put it on the nickle circle on the back of the altenator to see if it draws any magnitism. If you feel any magnitism then your altenator is fine. If its bad then you wont get any magnitism and you will be blowing through batterys like crazy.

<My '95 GT detonated like crazy until I changed out the EGR. I got the idea from this forum. The electrical problem may not be related.

Re: more probs for my '95 GT

the problem has been fixed completly, my alternator had just about had it, its been replaced and i no longer am having problems, the funny thing is though, is the other day a little while just before it gave out, the alternator gave out this really loud "whine" sound, almost exactly like a 2002-2003 cobra would sound like, i knew i was screwed once the alternator blew, but it sure was sick as hell to hear that sound coming from my car. thanks again for the help guys.
