Hi everyone im Glenn and im new here.
I just bought a used 1992 Saturn SC 1.9 DOHC with 111700 miles on it. The car itself runs nice. But ive noticed the check engine light comes on alot while im driving. And when i come to a stop sign the cars acts like it wants to stall( but hasnt yet) I used a code reader (scanner) and the following codes came up. 26,32,45 And ive just noticed that the EGR is unpluged from, im guessing the EGR value solenoid and both have a screw in there respected hoses. So im guessing that is why im getting some of those codes. OR i think. My questions are 1. besides the EGR itself not working, why esle would it be disconnected. 2. and with the EGR being disconnected wiill it harm anything? I didnt think the car would run without the EGR connected so what does the EGR do? This is my first experience with anything Saturn so does this type of car have lots of problems that i should be aware of and should i get a new EGR? and how do you check to see if the one i have works? I do have a 6 month 7500 miles 3rd party warrenty that came with the car, but i dont think it covers stuff like this. Also timeing chain, since this car has over 100k miles should i get the timing chain replaced now or wait? Thank you and hope im not asking to many questions here. |

Re: 1992 Saturn SC problems
26. Quad Driver output fault
32. EGR system fault 45. Oxygen sensor indicates system rich i don't know much about the quad driver. without the EGR your idle will get messed up, witch could indirectly cause running rich, or if the O2 sensor in still orginal, it may need replaced. while your in there, if the ECT is still orginal too, replace it with the new redesigned one. visit saturnfans.com for how tos |

Re: 1992 Saturn SC problems
the Quad Driver is hooked up to the egr, fix the egr and it should be fine too.
