Speedway challenge: Jeff's sleeper versus the EVO

Well I know that Jeff is planning on smoking my EVO. He has a mod in the works, from what I have read atleast. I planned for the race as well.
I will have a reflashed ECU by then :d I plan on making this a close run. I made this thread to see what Jeff should bet. I mean I already betted to pay his entry fee if he wins. I think he should have a title change. I also want to encourage others that are going to race one another (Ahem Fatninja versus Danno SS). There are gonna be alot of people meeting there, and there is nothing like grudge racing. I think we will only get in 3 runs. You guys need to show up early btw (I'm thinking 12:30-1:00pm). Look for the blue evo with the dork driving it.

Yup, I'll be there. What's Jeff's Sleeper and what is he running? Yeah I'm up for racing FatNinja or anyone else from this board that is going and wants to grudge. I'll be the chain smoking, greying, chubby guy with glasses in the red 02 SS.

me versus a LS1 camaro?? and not only that.. one with an air lid and the ls6 cam... haha.. common man..

I'd love to be there to lose, but one of my best buds decided to celebrate her birthday on that day... So I'm sorry guys.

Let's do another one really soon. Is the track open on any other days besides Saturdays?? I know Irwindale is open to public on thursdays, but I don't want to pay all that money for a few 1/8th mile runs.

Re: Speedway challenge: Jeff's sleeper versus the EVO

Speedway is open once every month. Unfortunately for you, Fatninja, that means running in the hottest month of June. It's ok cause a guy that lives a few streets down from me is also gonna run his cammed Z28. I believe 1Sweet2000SS will be there with his modified SRT-4 (13 sec flat to high 12 sec. car). It's gonna be great if it doesn't rain, cause the weather is totally ideal for sick times

What day? If I can make it, I'll bust out the Z with fucked up syncros and take her to the track...

You're all going down... my Z stock would run 16s...

Bobby boy... you're first on my hit list!

Re: Speedway challenge: Jeff's sleeper versus the EVO

Yeah it is on the 29th. I think I will get there at 12:30pm. I plan on doing atleast 2 runs. The track is better then LACR, so I can't complain.

Glad to hear you can make it. Jeff's Sleeper GTP is a Pontiac with the typical mods (exh., pulley, intake). He does have a cam though, and that makes a world of difference for those cars. Martin said that he will more then likely go. I am aiming for mid to low 13's. I will of course grab some 100 octane in preparation of this race. Hope to see you run better then a 15 sec. time slip Danno SS J/K

Is this taking place at the Fontana motor speedway? Is it a night event?
If so I may make it down... been battling mono for the last week though... so I'll see how I feel come this weekend.

No I still have the stock cam, I do have 1.9 Ratio Rockers for a slight increase in lift. My only new mod would be a beta version of the upcoming Intense pcm. I tried two runs yesterday at Sac and then let Chuck Perkins who does have a cam(another 04 owner and friend of Martin's) use it. Here is a vid of him beating an LS1 camaro and then also a vid of his new PB 13.50s

GTP running 13.50

GTP beating an LS1 camaro

I ran 13.7-13.8 @103-104 but I am pretty sure it can do a little better than that. With the beta pcm since there isn't a fix yet for the torque management at the shifts, my pcm cuts the Throttle position(TPS) from 100 to ~40%!!!

With raised shift points(6000 from 5600) the drop in rev prevents the car from shifting. So currently the only way to race the car is to tap shift before the pcm checks if there is over 325lbs of torque and cuts the TPS. Once this is fixed and the shifts can occur at 6000 instead of tapping around 5600-5800 like I have to now, my ET should drop. I hit this limiter on both shifts and still ran a 13.7!! So if I shift well and launch well my best time will likely will be 13.3-13.5s

If you are faster than that consistantly, then I don't have a chance.

The 76 on Arroyo Pkwy (right before the 110) has 100 octane. Jeff's pulling some pretty good times. Either you or him would make for a really good run. Maybe we can switch off on the grudges, each one getting a shot at the other (3 races per night sound about right for Fontana). The weather is warmer now so I don't think a 15 is in the cards again plus I'll be running Nitto DRs. Here's how I faired this past weekend in Carlsbad.
