Please help I have toyota Corolla 2001

Hey,
I just bought toyota corolla 2001.

Some reason when my speed goes over 70 miles per hours steering weel starts to shake.

Is it normal???

Also some reason acceleration very slow, but i think it should be in 4 cyl. cars...

Lightbulb What 2 look for

Here's what you can do to trouble shoot.

1. Check tires, make sure they are in proper pressure and wheels are not bent.
2. Check front and REAR DRUMS. To check rear drums, you need to take the cover off.... get a repair manaul for this job. It's relativly easy but requires a lot of hard work. If brakes need to be replaced, front ones are less than 20 bucks. If the back ones need to be replaced... BUY THE HARDWARE KIT (less than 20 bucks) and the drum shoes. Yes they are called drum shoes, not brake pads for the back. And what is a hardware kit? It's all the springs, spring locks, and yada yada.
3. Give your car a FULL tune up. Oil change, fluid check and changes.

If you're a 5-speeder, the accel would be the equilavent of an american V6.
If you're an automatic, the accel would be slightly lower since the trans only has 3 or 5 speeds depending on you car.

If all else fails, get a professional to look at it.
