The Hardest Decision

so i've been trying to figure out lately how much it would cost to buy perormance and power parts for my 93 3000gt and i've got the cash to put some really nice things into this car to make it a bit quicker but i've talked to some people about it and they have suggested i not get too into racing the car. Mostly i guess because it's got 123,000 miles on it and i dont want to get into the habbit of receiving speeding tickets for getting to antsy on the highways (though i know its bound to happen anyway with the stock car)

Either way i want to put something into my car and i would like some input from you guys about this, also do you think it would be good or bad to start putting more torque and horsepower into my car with that kind of mileage?

i'll have about $1,500-$2,000 come late june to put into my pearl and
i'm either going for straight out looks
or straight out power

The looks i would do to the car as as followed
-Lowering springs (tell me what springs you guys prefer)
-rims
-window tint
and possibly one or two other fancy showy things to put on it

The POWER list here
-K&N air filter (installed)
-3sx downpipe
-3sx race pipe
-3sx pulley
-high stall tc
-alto end clutch kit
-shift kit
-cat back

Let me know your thoughts and advice on what to do here because i have my preferences but i'd like to know if you guys were in my position, what you would do.

Re: The Hardest Decision

Is it a Base, Sl , or VR-4? and if i was was u i would go with a combo of power and looks. Becouse who wants a nasty looken car thats fast, or a fast looken car thats slow.

Re: The Hardest Decision

If i were you i would save up i little more and get some rims, something like Tein FLEX coil-overs and maybe get the K&N (do you mean you have it already?) and a downpipe.

But i dont know what price of rims you are lookin at and i dont know if you really want that good of a suspension.

When i get my VR-4 next year i'm going to:

1st: Rims and tires
2nd:Tein FLEX with EDFC coil-overs
3rd: K&N or Stillen intake kit
4th: Stillen downpipe and DN rear pre-cat
5th: JIC Twin 505 exhaust system
and so on. But rims/tires and suspension are the first on my list.

Re: The Hardest Decision

I'm all about power. If your car has been well-maintained, it will take it. Although, you might also want to consider the fact that with more power comes more things breaking. You already got some decent mods if memory serves me correctly. Maybe spend a bit more, honestly if you havn't reached your goals, I'd say keep going for them. But springs and lighter rims and other eye catchers are good mods as well. Check out www.3si.org they have a mod guide. ONe is for power and one is for performance. You might want to check out performance mods that would fit your stage of power upgrades.

Ps- Yetti, I don't think it is possible to make a nasty looking 3000gt. I mean I guess you could follow the epitome of 'ricer', but that would take alot of money and effort to make such a natural beauty look so bad.

its a 93 base, if i had a vr-4 i would definitely not be asking this question of looks or power. The K&N filter is already installed. Let me get your opinions on the rims im looking at, and also im wondering if there are any rim manufacturing companies that specialize or at least make rims with less weight than the stock wheels.

http://www.wheelguyz.com/shop/browse...ID=&KeepPage=1

im looking at the ones on the bottom of the page, the BSA 301's will cost me 725 shipped

and i was looking at these as well
http://www.wheelguyz.com/shop/browse...t=59&path=3,59

The enkei zenkeis with low pro tires? I hear a lot of good things about Enkei, the only drawback i find is that these are only 16's and i think the 17' BSAs would look better with the lowered suspension im planning on getting.

ALSO, i was wondering what you guys found to be the best coilovers or drops for the car. I hear a lot of good good things about ground control but that they are the most expensive. Which coilover system will give you the most for its price? Thanks again everyone.

Re: The Hardest Decision

Why did I think you had a vr4...well with a base I would definantly go for more power. But if you are going with rims and springs, check out 3sxperformance.com or any other company that speciallizes in our cars, any coilovers they sell are good ones.
