Antiquing

Earlier today I needed to go get my hair cut (which really isn’t important) and my mom decided she would drive me, because she had other errands to run in the same area. So afterwards, she decides to go “antiquing”, most of the time this is not a good thing. Well, we were at this one antique shop (my mom’s favorite… the owner knows her by name) where she had found a rocking chair c.a. 1910, the good news is that she paid less than the $100 they asked and the appraisal in it’s current condition is for $350. The better news is that I actually found something! Being that I am a book nut, this caught my eye as I went through their old book section. The Shakespeare collection from Yale University, published for the English Department in 1917.

anyway… here are some pictures

no idea, bought them more because i've needed half of them for schoolwork before, and i'll probably use them in the future. just nicer to have an antique set at home.

Interesting... books. I rarely go into antique stores, and usually when I do I'm looking for cameras, most vendors can't tell the difference between a box camera and a TLR, so sometimes there's good deals to be had.

Re: Antiquing

That's a great find, I love old classic lit and poetry. I picked up a bunch of old 1920's poetry books deaccessioned from the University of Keele library through an antique dealer. Any of you Brits know where that is??

Re: Antiquing

Shakespeare. Very cool indeed. Yes, "antiquing" can be fun indeed. I find some old Hotwheels and Matchboxes, not to mention some old discontinued model kits.

Re: Re: Antiquing

Very cool! Did you happen to get a copy of "The Two Gentlemen of Verona"?? It's a bit slow to start, but is supposedly one of Shakespeares first works, right along with "Comedy of Errors". Worth at least one read.

that's pretty cool man...the most that i've gotten out of an antique book is an Unabridged Webster's Dictionary circa 1950 something from my town library

Where did you go antiquing at? Has your mom been to downtown Glendale yet? If not she would be in heaven. 150ish stores within 4 city blocks
