What is a good beginners car?
This might have been asked before, but I will ask again for my preference. I am young and looking to buy a car, I can spend around 500-2000 on a first car, that is Canadian dollars. What is recommended? Civic? Escort? 240sx? STANG!!?!?

Re: What is a good beginners car?
If you wanna go fast for cheap, get a Foxbody 5.0 Mustang. If you want an import, you'll probably have to save up a little bit more than that to get a decent one.

Re: What is a good beginners car?
dude... take the bus and save your money until you can afford a good car.. like save around 5000$ and buy a 3000-4000$ car.. worst case scenario, you have money in the bank, but if anything needs fixing you've got the cash.

If you want high torque get a 1996-99 Honda Prelude V-Tec. You can probably get those for $6,000 used. Or for $4,000 you could buy a 1993-95 Acura Integra in good condition.
If you can spend as much as $9,000 I would buy a 1995-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD DOHC. |

You wont find a very good car for your price. The Fox body stangs are incredibly unreliable, and damn ugly. Save your money

Go with a foxbody stang like mine. they are cheap, fast, and a good deal for the money and have HUGE aftermarket support if you ever want to upgrade at all. They aren't that bad looking after you see them a lot. when i first saw mine i thought it looked like crap but now i think it looks awesome. you can also find fox body stangs everywhere and they are pretty cheap. just my

Re: What is a good beginners car?
hm....$2000 the most. Well it depends if you want to start driving with a stick shift car, or you just want a car to go around with. But my suggestion is, just get a very very cheap and reliable stick shift car, and practice with it. And then save up and get a better car which you won't mess it up. Because I started off with a 98 5 speed mirage, I bought it for 5200, not expensive, and it never went down on me. And I got used to driving stick with this car, so now I'm getting a better stick car and I wont mess it up. But for $2000 bucks, I would got for like an 90-92 integra, or 91 240sx. And 90 civic is not a bad choice too. Or a 91 Subaru Legacy. Those cars won't break down so easily. So you should think about those for your first car. Then later on, save up for a better car. Because it's not a good idea to have a fast nice car as a first car. Well this is just my opinion. Good luck.

Re: What is a good beginners car?
Dude, get an '83,'84 Rabbit GTI, my friend tickled his up to 362 Horsepower, and they are pretty quick stock because they are light. He only bought his for 800. And i see lots of Rab's for way under 2000 dollas. They are also the most practical car on the road, cheap insurance, reliable, good gas mileage, not to mention that a 5 year old could work on them. If you are planing on keepin it stock, go with a Diesel, if you are planin on soupin it up, go with a gasoline GTI, and use the rest of the money to swap the engine with a VR6.
