Hey, I need a little bit of help with my Camaro. When It idles, it's fine, But when it gets reved is when I hear some knocking sounds under the hood. At first I thought it was my carb. but it's not. I was hoping someone could help me out and tell me what my options are.
E-mail me, or just post it. [email protected] Thanks, David |

Re: 1979 Camaro
It could be something big like a rod going on its way out. Can you try and pinpoint where exactly the noise is coming from or are you certain its inside the engine??

Re: 1979 Camaro
Yea, how miles do you have on the engine? Could be your Piston Rod coming loose and knocking around or could be your crankshaft, cam, or vaules. Could be anything, you should go get that checked out before you have a Rod coming through the Oil Pan.

It could be what is know as a spark knock. Thats where your timing is to advanced (I believe). I had that happen in mine but once I adjusted the timing it stoped. Or it could be your main or rod bearings are worn.

Re: 1979 Camaro
Thanks again, I checked it out and it's coming from the engine itself by the firewall.

My rods, and ect are still good but it's still making teh knocks, and it's not spark plug knocks, even though I wish it was.
