Running Power wire for an amp

Wut up party people? I got a question for those people who know how to install subs into a 92civic VX. Ive had my subs in my car for a while now but i really dont think that where i have the power wire to the amp is in a very safe spot. It runs from my batt, under my hood, and right next to my door hinges (where the front of the door meets the car). Im just waiting for the day when the door completely cuts the wire and leaves me electrocuted. does anyone know a safe place to run the wire from the batt mabay through a hole that i havnt found yet. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Re: Running Power wire for an amp

i dont have a 92 civic but ive got an 03. one thing that ive done on all the cars that ive had is run the amp power wire underneath the door sill. Your sill should have 3 or 4 screws in it and you can just take that off and run the wire in next the where the carpet meets the door frame. It has always worked really well for me, you just have to remove some of the side panels depending on where you put the amp. hope this helps.

Do you have it ran around the fender? If so you should run it throughthe fire wall. There should be a rubber plug located somewhere on the firewall. Poke a hole and run it through and run it down the door seal to the trunk.

Im not sure if anyone directly answered that question of your so the fireall is that thick peice of metal separating the engine bay for the inside of the car, often there are holes filled with rubber grommets where wires are needing to be passed through. I put a system in my buds 92 DX and there was actually a spare hole already there, on the drivers side under the dash just above the pedals on the firewall. Also try to avoid running things through the door jam like your talking about, does it work...yes...but it looks so bad and is obviously the low effort route. Worse comes to worst just get out a drill and put a new hole in the firewall. Do remember to add a grommet so your wires dont get worn and short out. Once the wires are in the body pop off the plastic panel on the bottom of the door jam, u can run the wires under there to the trunk. Also you will need to run the RCA/remote turn on wires, for your amplifier in much the same fashion. But put them on different sides of the car to reduce signal noise, RCA/remote on one side power on the other. Then run a ground from your amp to any bolt in your trunk, you may need to sand off the paint around the bolt in order to get a good contact
