Unhappy ZR2 tach

I have a 98 ZR2.While driving down the road,my tach will jump around and then quit. When I stop and turn the key off, then restart it,it works fine again.Ideas?

does it work properly every single time you restart the engine, or just every now and then?

Is this the only guage acting up?

I had a 94 full size Blazer K1500 and when my battery started going bad my speedo was jumpy. Along with my aftermarket tach.
