extra plug

hi, since i got the car i find one plug into the engine bay that is just hanging there. i mean i cant find where it is supposed to go. the plug itself looks exsact the same like the one that plugs to your map sensor on the top of the intake many- the one with 3 wires.
i've been trying to figure this out for like 2 months. some1 told me that it connects to the black stock air box, which i dont have(k&n filter instead), but i realy dont think its from there.
if some1 please could check that on their car. also the cables to that extra plug are getting together, in the harness under the hood, with the cables for the o2 sensor and coolant temperature sensor.
any help is grately apresiated,thanks

Re: extra plug

I dont think it plugs in your stock box because i have a 95 tsi awd and i took my stock box out with no wires hooked to it.

Re: extra plug

ok, the one, that connects to your map sensor(on the top of your intake manifold) is exsactly the same- black plastic with a little orange in the base, with 3 wires. also the cables comes from the harness right where the cables and plugs comes out for the o2 sensor, coolant temperature sensor, knock sensor and that other plug that i can't find a place for. its hanging now above my tranny.
sorry i can't get picture, but if u open your hood and take the plug out of your map sensor u'r going to see the same plug...
i just accidently find this pics....its the first pic on your right side with the TPS(4 wire plug) and Map (3 wire plug). the 3 wire plug is that i now have extra...

Re: extra plug

I'll bet a 6 pack thats for your speed sensor. Its a black plastic "tower" that comes up through the rear tranny mount. I always thought it was odd that it branches off with the the coolant sensor and O2 sensor, etc. It is also the same type of plug as the one on the MAP sensor, that uses the little metal clip to hold it on. If I'm right, remember I drink hieneken

Re: extra plug

u are the one i was asking ,if i got to be honest. i would agree with u because the only thing wrong with the car (after the 6 bolt swap) is that my cruise control is not working and that the smeedmeter aswell too. so i dont think its the cruise .i'm goin to check right away...

Re: extra plug

nothing. the only thing comming from my rear tranny mount is a little shaft(about 3/8 in size) which has a hole in it and is kind a cut across in the middle. just stickin up from the tranny.
i assume that the black plastic "tower" is mising or simply gone...
it sucks to have your speedo meter not working. at
first i tough that its like the 1 gen (that metal rope that rotates dont know how u call it) ,but i guess 2 gens are all electrical...
thanks for the help, grately appresiated, and kevin u deserve not a 6 pack, maybe 60...

Re: extra plug

Yes, 1g is mecahnical, 2g is electrcial. Not having the speed sensor hooked up will cause the problems you describe

If there is no connector on top of that speed sensor its broken. Only one 10mm bolt holding it in, but have fun finding one. Junkyard might be easiest, unless they are cheap at the dealer. Never priced one before.
