engine/tranny swap

hi guys. im about to get a 91 dx hatch cheap. an engine swap is really what i want. i like the b16's alot. i have a chance to get b16a for $1000 but it doesnt have a tranny harness or ecu axles. will the tranny i have now fit? what trannys will? will it be cheaper to just buy a b16a with motor tranny ecu harness and axles. im not too worried about the ecu i intend to buy an aftermarket one. i think i can order the harness for under 200 from hasport as well as some axles. any imput would be appreciated thanx.

Re: engine/tranny swap

look u will need to convert to MPFI NO MATTER WHAT U PUT IN BESIDES THE STOCK MOTOR so with that out of the way NO your stock tranny WILL NOT WORK your stock tranny is a D series and the "B" 16 is a B series its like putting a square peg in a round hole DOES NOT FIT if u get a B16 get a COMPLETE swap it will work soooo much easier there are MANY guides around OK !!!!

wow man thanx these are way better deals than what i was looking at before. whats the differance between the b16a sirII and b16a xsi? is it just hydrolic tranny vs cable tranny? cuz if so it really doesnt seem worth an extra $450.

Re: engine/tranny swap

HOLY. $1000 for a B16 with nothing else is out of control. When I see them being sold around here without axles, ECU, tranny they're around $350 or $400..

You want the cable tranny B16, with the non-OBD ECU. It will save you wiring headache and is pretty simple compared to running a newer B16 thats OBD equipped.
