check engine
my check engine light turned on a week ago so i took my car to the honda dealer and had them do the diognostic on it and i found out that i needed a new o2 censor so i replaced it and now my check engine light is still on. i also just recently installed a full exhaust; headers,hi flow cat, and cat back exhaust so i think it might have something to do with that but i'm not sure. Also, before i got the new o2 censor, my car was very hesitant in 2nd gear which i thought was the broken o2 censor but its still hesitant with the new one.

Re: check engine
Your first mistake was taking it to honda, they are the biggest bunch of morons out there. Take your car to a real mechanic that you know and trust and go from there. It could be many things, air filter, need oil change, fuel filter anything

Re: check engine
It could also be that just the sensor light for the check engine light is not working properly and ur engine can be completely fine. I used to have the check coolant light on my old car on all the time even though the coolant was topped up and fine

Re: check engine
What year is your honda? I have a 3rd gen '90, and there's an 'eye' on the passenger firewall under the floormat. You turn the key on, count the blinks and get the code. you can do a search online for the codes and check it out.
You can also pull your positive battery cable for at least 5 minutes (I generally just leave it off for half an hour) and clear the computer, resetting the check engine light... if it pops back up, then you want to take it to someone you know and trust and have them codescan your car. |

Re: check engine
pull the speedo cluster, and take out the bulb. check engine lights are worthless and stupid. i drive a 04 silverado at work, and the damn light comes on. it only has like 4000 miles. but i swear, your engine could be on fire some other time, and that damn light wouldn't even come on, when you really needed it.

Re: check engine
KM, Yes it sparks, but it's not dangerous as long as it's not arcing through a piece of your jewelry or something. I've always been told pull the positive just so you know for SURE the computer's completely disconnected from power...
