Downshifiting out of overdrive

I have a 2000 silverado with the 5.3 and auto transmission. The problem I am having is when it is in overdrive it keeps trying to downshift when I am not trying to accelerate. It doesn't go all the way into 3rd but you can see the RPM's go up and then it will go back into overdrive. It will downshift properly when I accelerate to pass.

Check to see if you have any transmission fluid leaking in the engine bay and under the truck. Then if thats not it check to see if the holder for the throttle kick down cable is broken if the cable is sitting freely in the air or is lose on the holster then theres your problem. If not any of those id get it serviced!!! hope that helps!!!
