Boost Limiter?

I have a 96 GST with a Greddy boost guage and a manual boost controller, not sure what kind, but when im trying to turn my boost up or down, nothing is really happening its still going at like .7 Bar, was wondering if it has a limit or something, or what could be going on with it. I bought the car with it and he told me how, but never experimented with it. anyone got any pics on where it should be hooked up to see if he even put it in?

Re: Boost Limiter?

I had the same problem when I installed my mbc. I looked over the connection and relized that I had the thing hooked up wrong. How is it hooked up?

how are you saying you are adjusting it, then asking to see if he even put it in, and you have never experimented with it?

stock boost should be around .9-.95bar [doing math in my head].

my guess is that you have a leak somewhere, so find the pressure tester in the VFAQ and find it. and if you are truly adjusting the MBC to no avail, it would also point to a boost leak.

also give us a full mod list so we can troubleshoot a bit more, like what is stock and what is not [intake, UICP, SMIC/FMIC, turbo, exhaust type, you get it]

Re: Boost Limiter?

I know where the leak is, it's called stock 2g BOV.

Re: Boost Limiter?

Speaking of which, is it ok to upgrade the BOV when the only other mods I have are a boost gauge and intake? Someone told me that I need to do a little bit more before I get a new/better BOV because of boost creep..? Can anyone enlighten me about this? TIA.

Re: Boost Limiter?

I would immediately say that is wrong. Fixing boost creep by keeping a boost leak isn't the way to do things. I haven't even heard of boost creep with a stock turbo anyway because it can't flow that much. New BOV would be 2nd in my list, right after boost gauge. I would look into a hard upper pipe with the BOV too. I got my brode UICP for $81 shipped and my 1g BOV for another $62 shipped (to Alaska).

Re: Boost Limiter?

for sure, i'm with Joe too. he is dead on [as usual ] the 2g BOV is a POS like nobody's business. actually i would thing that UICP+BOV or an exhaust would be the next logical steps in evolution of a monster.
