Power window switch check

My drivers side power window is not working on my 2000 Grand Am 4 door. All the other windows work and every once in a while the drivers side will work. I want to see if there is a way to check the switch. Does anyone have a wiring diagram so I can check voltage or rewire it to another switch so I can see if its a cheap switch or an expensive motor or regulator.

If you know how to check it please send me the insturctions.

Hi there I had to replace the drivers side front window regulator on my moms car last year. the switch and reg were both bad the dealer said that the motor goes bad and takes the switch with it. now for the bad news the switch is over 100.00 and is a dealer only item the regulator aka motor was about 100.00 at the dealer but about 45.00 at napa i took about 2 hours to change it out. a word of advice if you do this yourself buy a pair of rubber door stops and wedge them on opposite sides of the glass to keep the window from droping suddenly into the door while you are busy unbolting the reg. it comes with a packet of nuts and bolts don't loose them because you are going to have to drill out some rivets and bolt the new unit to the assembly. hope this helps Dan
