E34 headlight upgrade

Another hopeful topic for discussion--has anyone with an E34 or E32 upgraded their headlights? To high-intensity discharge!? I'm kind of dissatisfied with the illumination, especially of the low beams. Car is a 1990 535i, and I believe it has the 9005/9006 bulbs. My old '86 528e was upgraded to Hella Quartz Halogen H4/H1 assemblies, and the improvement was FANTASTIC. I'm kind of looking for a similar effect for this car.

E34 Headlights and other useful information

Hi there

I'm new on this board (and new to the joys of BM'ers) but you will find some answers and opinions on http://www.bimmer.info/forum/index.php?

and http://www.bmwe34.net/ is full of good stuff as well.

Regards

Reid

Thanks. (for anyone else, on bmwe34.net check out "upgrades", then "lights", then "more lights".

I think I'll try the modified 9005 bulbs, but if I buy new bulbs, I might as well wait until I can afford a set of PIAA ones.

I still didn't see anyone explain how to clean the reflectors. bmw34.net does confirm that it's possible.
