Stupid Question!!
I just noticed this today, but does Hyundai DO NOT believe in daytime running lamps? I noticed it today when I was driving this loaner car I have...the 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I know my 00 Tib doesn't have them, either...and I just assumed that they didn't do that in 2000.
So....can someone please answer my retarded question?!

Hyundai does not have DRLs in any of their vehicles. You can turn the headlights on, and when you turn the key off they will automatically turn off. I see a lot of people doing that. However, you will go through headlight bulbs pretty quick. DRLs are the high beams at half wattage, that way they aren't really getting that much use, and they don't burn out. If you run your headlights as DRLs, then they are at full power, and will have a much shorter life.

Its an aftermarket DRL module that can be placed either with the low-standard lights or with the high beams. With the high beams one would have to add a diode on the wire coming from the ETACS. I had posted the full step by step on my website for Santa Fe modifications but I recently took the link down to do further testings. I am still testing the module against all conditions I can come across and so far its working. I'll re-post it up in a day or two on my website. Now the procedure is for Santa Fes only. It can also work on the Elantras but a fellow moderator is working on testing it with his Elantra and doing a seperate write up. I am not sure it can or will work with other Hyundai vehicles, though. So to get back on topic, the statement above is not true that all Hyundais don't have DRLs. There are some models outside of the US that do have them and its because its mandatory in those countries. It just drives me nuts that Hyundai loves to distribute their vehicles with different components missing.
