crank sensor

i wanna check the crank sensor and my haynes i bought for the car doesnt show you how to hook my tach up to see if my crank sensor is working,anyone have a diagram they could email me or a good simple explanation instructions thanks

There is more than one kind of crankshaft sensor, they are tested differently. There is one that generates a AC signal, one that generates a square wave, this is a hall effect type with 3 wires and one that is hall effect with 2 wires with signal riding on the power wires. You need either an oscilloscope or DVM to test any of them correctly.
