1961 Corvette Mako Shark

After finishing the C4 and C3 (pics at the subforum, soon), its time for the next project - C2 of course

The truth is that I don't like the look of the usuall C2, so I decided to build the Mako Shark edition.
But there is a problem. I build 1/24(/ 1/25).The only Mako Shark 1/25 kit is AMT's
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW
Besides I don't like AMT's kits (after building the C4....), the kit is level1. Its ok I won't have to paint it, cause this one is too hard for me (if you don't know the car- look at the link), but the kit has less than 50 parts. I estimate it has about 30. and that means of course- little children's kit.

If I don't have choice- I'll take it. But maybe anyone knows about another mako shark kit?

Thank you

Don't knock that snapper, it's got a very well engraved chassis plate (the equal of the similar style chassis under the Tamiya Nissan 350Z), and the body is impeccable. The only other kit ever of the original Mako Shark is an ex-Bandai/Entex 1/20th scale atrocity that was rereleased by Minicraft a few years ago. Lousy, lousy, lousy kit.

1/24 and 1/25; the difference isn't that important if you want to build a particular model and there's none available in the scale you prefer. Just because it's a snap kit doesn't mean it's a "little children's" kit. Your abilities as a modeller are what make the difference. Can your skills make the model stand out?

Mako Shark

I picked up a Mako Shark AMT 1:25 kit this January from a guy who collected in the 70's it is much more complex than the kit shown in the photo at least level 3 - it is also not the convertable - and bonnet opens.

Mines not for sale - but thought you might like to know that there was another issue of it.

When I said "little children's kit", I didn't mean its too easy. I ment - the kit won't be detailed and will probably look like a toy. (maybe not... I hope not)

The only other 1/25 mako shark kit I saw is MPC's. and it was the newer mako shark (C3).
Maybe there is also another, but I can't find it in eBay.
Anyway, I won't be able to paint it, so I prefer level2 kit.

I had that kit. It actually is a pretty nice replica. With some aftermaket parts it could be awesome. It doesn't have an engine though, totally curbside kit.

no engine? =\
What do you mean- aftermaket parts?

Maybe I'll think about another vette. Does anyone know about a special edition (like ZR-1 or Z06) of the C2?
I don't know much about old corvettes.

Thanks for all your replies

By aftermarket parts I am talking about adding your own engin from one of these places that sale scale model engines, photo etch accessories for the windshield wipers, resin or photo etch wheels etc....

Yep, sorry no engine
