Question Stalls when hot

I have an 85 GT that has a good egr valve and tube, no leaks, but stalls when shifting r to d or d to r when engine is warmed up and long idle will stall but restarts immediately. Sometimes will run rough when waiting for a light to change and stall. After idleing for a couple of minutes it runs rough and stalls when engine has warmed up. Cold idle is 1600-1800 hot idle is 800-900 a little erratic. Runs great when moving. Egr solenoid has been disconected from the egr valve because when it is connected it will stall after a minute or so. Has new plugs and wires cap rotor etc. Would not want to lay out for new egr solinoid if I don't need one as they are expensive. Any suggestions would be appreciated. HELP

Re: Stalls when hot

I really think it might be the solenoid. Maybe you could get one off a junkyard 2.8 (any car-there really wasn't that much difference between fwd and Fiero 2.8's as far as computer controls and emmisions goes) for a few bucks instead of dumping alot for a new one.

74-79 Ramcharger or 100, slant or no motor - not interested in v8 - Overdrive 4 is a big plus, NO hopeless rust buckets!!!
3Rd gen F body floor pans/camaro door skin (L)

Why is it I see so many "Proud to be an American" bumper stickers on the backs of cars made in Japan or Korea??????
